- Discussion - Mike Sweet reporting the CUPS license to Apache v2 from GPLv2 - Mike has been working on this shift since ESP was purchased by Apple (2007) - GPLv3 was not viable for CUPS - Open source community is reacting vocally in various ways and tenors - Direction not likely to change - Concern voiced from some open source distributions - Question to resolve: Should the PWG IPP Everywhere certification and ippsample code to shift to this Apache v2 license to smooth the way? - Current PWG GitHub ippeveselfcert and ippsample projects are currently dual license CUPS / New BSD - Shift from dual CUPS / BSD to Apache v2? - Read through by SC of all clauses in the Apache v2 license - Summary of SC perception / thoughts / actions - Do we need to check or the ISTO need to check to make sure that the new license is congruent with PWG IP Policy, etc. - We can come to a consensus here in the SC but also discuss in the vF2F next week - What effects will this have on our partners who might use this code?
